Guidelines
for Slides:
Simplicity and clarity
are essential in slides. Do not
put large tables of data, complex illustrations, or long written text on
slides. The following are guidelines for the effective use of 35MM
(2"x2") slides:
-
Use large, bold print (Times Bold,
Helvetica, Arial Bold). Titles 34-44 size font and text in no less
than 22-size font.
-
Never use only UPPERCASE
letters.
-
Use no more than 45-characters
and spaces per line, and no more than six lines, double-spaced
per slide.
-
Contrasting colors are extremely important:
white letters on a blue background are good. Reds, pinks, light greens
and yellows do not show well at a distance.
-
Center all material and leave a
10% border on all slides.
-
You may use either plastic or glass mounted
slides; however, glass mounted is preferable.
-
Use a landscape format.
-
To test for legibility, hold 2"x 2" slide
at arm's length. Slides should be readable at this distance.
-
Display no more than one slide per minute.
